CAREER OBJECTIVE
To pursue a career in marketing communications, within higher education, incorporating my experience in integrated marketing, publication design and production, management, web development, public relations and conference/event planning

QUALIFICATIONS
• Over 15 years experience consulting with non-profit and corporate clients in developing integrated messages through their marketing collateral
• Co-founded and solely responsible for Salisbury University’s annual Web Development Conference for the past two years; a 2.5 day conference showcasing the technical (i.e., database-to-web integration) and non-technical (i.e., is your brand consistent on your site?) aspects of the Web in higher education. Working with conference planning, session development, topical issues in the field, technology in high education and all aspects of conference and participant needs.
• Self-employed for nine years in the Washington, DC metropolitan area servicing clients with marketing consulting, brand and logo design and usage, publication and web development. Created and wrote all marketing and public relations materials.
• Consulted and developed press conference materials for the Secretary of Health and Human Services and the department nationwide
• Recognized for marketing knowledge and importance of developing integrated marketing strategies from my peers in corporate and higher education

PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Marketing Communications:
Coordinate and work daily with Public Relations in creating and placing headlines and related messages on the home page and the News & Events page; this has caused the News & Events page to rise within the top 40 pages each week, out of 15,000
Oversee external ebusiness vendor partnerships to integrate in-house capabilities and needs; increased online activity for administrative forms and functions decreased paperwork by 20% in those departments
Consulted and wrote an integrated marketing strategy for the Alumni Relations Office which included www.salisburyalumni.com, built for the active chapters and offering online event registration; 100% of events are now advertised via broadcast emails and 85% now book their event online

Management and Leadership:
Designed and managed print production of 22 different versions of menus for national restaurant chain.
Worked and managed mini teams of writers, editors, photographers, designers, and printer representatives.
Wrote a complete business plan, to create a new IT services company, based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area; met with initial venture capitalists and franchising agents to explore the validity of the company and its services in the early 1990s.
Wrote and presented at a national and mid-atlantic conference for CASE (Council for the Advancement of School Education), as well as Salisbury University’s annual Web Development Conference
Co-developed a graduate and undergraduate course in ebusiness for the Perdue School of Business; this included the creation of the Web site
Developed curriculum materials and taught staff and faculty Web-related design and development classes

Web Development & Strategy:
Brought a diverse background of graphic design, development, site architecture, content management and marketing strategy, all avenues used to establish and incorporate the optimum solutions for the client or organization.
Conducted yearly “Web site reviews” of departments to review content, site architecture, integrated marketing strategy with print collateral and other external/internal sites; content was updated every 3-6 months vs. 1-2 years and awareness to market URL was seen in 45% more of the publications
Researched and developed an Internet Marketing & Advertising Plan for several campus Web sites

Graphic design and publication development:
• Designed and managed the production of all corporate collateral and marketing materials, including brochures, multi-media, investor relations materials, direct mail, newsletters, presentations, and client conference materials.

Strategize, design, develop, implement, test and maintain the Salisbury University and other campus-affiliated Web sites. Responsible for meeting the needs of the external audience (prospective students, alumni, and donors) and internal audience (working with faculty and staff to integrate the Web into their department’s marketing strategy), as well as Web site administration, content management, and development of policies and procedures for proper usage and development of the Web on campus. Supervise one Web Developer and several student Web Assistants.

From 1988 - 1996: Specialized in marketing consultation, print and graphic design. Clients include companies in the following fields: computer technology, health care, hotel/restaurant, retail and education. Handled press relations for the company throughout the Metropolitan D.C. area as well as local Chambers and industry-specific publications. Starting in 1996, the Web became a new focus of the firm and services included Web site design, site architecture and development.
